When Ione asked me to take some portraits for her LinkedIn and for future talks, I didn’t hesitate for a second. She’s not only one of the most brilliant people I know — she’s also one of the most genuine. We met years ago at the PRBB, where she’s spent much of her career working on projects that connect science, cities, and people. That same building became our studio for this session — flooded with natural light, calm corners, and memories.

The first one was a test — spontaneous, relaxed, without pressure.
After reviewing the photos together a few days later, sitting in front of the screen, we realized what we wanted to refine: how to control reflections, where to catch the softest daylight, and how to let her expression speak naturally, without posing. That reflection process — visual and personal — made the second session feel precise and honest.
Before shooting again, I spent some time reading her LinkedIn, understanding not only what she does but how she explains it: bridging research and creativity, science and theatre, data and dialogue. She’s a scientist who doesn’t just measure the world — she translates it. In these portraits, I tried to capture that mix: her intellectual focus, the human warmth behind the method, and the subtle confidence of someone who’s used to building bridges between disciplines and people.
Alongside the formal portraits, I also included a few black-and-white behind-the-scenes shots. They’re more personal — moments of silence before the camera, her reflection in the mirror while fixing her hair or retouching her makeup. Those images don’t aim to present her as a “scientist,” but simply as herself: thoughtful, strong, luminous.
This session wasn’t just about photography. It was about friendship, trust, and paying attention to detail — the same way she pays attention to the small links that connect urban life, climate, and health.
Ione means a lot to me. She’s one of those people who make you think, laugh, and look at things from another angle — and that’s exactly what I wanted these images to say.
Portraits of my friend Ione — scientist, communicator, and creative mind. We shot at the PRBB with natural light, seeking the balance between professionalism, warmth, and the quiet strength behind her work.
