BLOG

Some nights don’t need promotion or planning to hit hard. On July 2023, I was lucky enough to be there—camera in hand—for what turned out to be Panellet’s last show. It wasn’t advertised. No posters, no big send-off. Just a quiet spread of messages, a word-of-mouth gathering. And a square full of people who knew what this band meant. They were there for Panellet, and the band gave everything back.

The Set: Some Nostalgia

Between songs, they spoke about old times, past members, and the strange weight of knowing this was it. It didn’t feel scripted. Just honest. They laughed, they thanked everyone, and they played like they meant every note.
The final song hit like it always does. But this time, it came with a lump in the throat. The crowd didn’t just sing—they held on. That chorus wasn’t a chant. It was a collective way of saying goodbye.

Through the Lens: Details That Stick

Shooting this was different. I wasn’t there to make a band look cool. I was there to document a goodbye.
• The band’s faces—focused, grateful, trying to stay present.
• The crowd, shoulder to shoulder, fists up, some singing, some still. One kid held up a piece of cardboard with a hand-drawn message thanking the band—a simple gesture that hit deeper than any speech.
The frame I keep coming back to: the band standing in front of the crowd at the end of the show, taking it all in. No poses, no encore. Just a quiet moment of recognition between those onstage and those who had been with them all along.

A Note to the Band

Panellet—thanks. For not faking it. For showing up year after year and keeping the sound loud and honest. For giving us something that felt like ours.

This wasn’t just your last show. It was a snapshot of everything punk is supposed to be: direct, self-made, rooted in community, and full of meaning without needing to explain itself.

What I Take With Me

Looking through the photos, I’m reminded why I still do this. Not for content, not for exposure. But because nights like this matter.

Punk isn’t about forever. It’s about impact—and you made yours.
